Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Top Picks

Early access for card members kicked off Thursday last week and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale does NOT disappoint! I headed to my local store after work (since, you know, engineering > blogging), and while it was a bit crazy in the shoe department, I left with quite a bit of fall goodness. I really wanted to see the handbags and shoes in person before committing, and you guys, the handbags this years are incredible. I walked away with 3 and I am still thinking on a few others. The materials are so rich, I just wanted to touch all the bags! From quilted suede to pebbled leather to gorgeous velvet, the textures, styles, and colors are so on point. I cannot say enough good things about the Tory Burch selection in particular; I wanted them all! But I settled for the one that first stole my heart and I hope we will be very happy together this fall. So, here is a peek at my top handbag picks:

After hitting the handbag department, we ventured over to shoes (yes, K tagged along, and patiently carried all my purchases) where we received a number to get in line and waited for a sales person. It actually went pretty quick and waiting gave me a chance to find all the ones I previewed online and wanted to try on. There were several pairs of shoes that were on my list, and almost all were available in my size. The Vince Camuto booties this year are soooooo good. They are so comfortable and the detailing is impeccable. I also was in the market for a new pair of black flats for work, as well as a pair of slide loafers for fall. I ended up with 5 pairs (one had to be ordered online as they were out of my size). Here is a look at my top footwear picks:

Next, we ventured into jewelry and accessories. The Kendra Scott selection in the sale is gorgeous! There are so many of her filigree pieces in silver, gold, and rose gold, in a few styles of earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. I also love all the Bauble Bar pieces included in the sale; the metallics are so pretty! I scooped up 2 new jewelry pieces before heading into my favorite area for fall; scarves. If you have been following me on social media for a while, you know how deep my love of scarves runs. And, living in Michigan means wearing them is not only practical, but necessary in fall and through winter. There are so many cute plaid scarves, dreamy cashmere wraps, and cozy ponchos. I picked up a few scarves and a cashmere waterfall vest, which is probably one of the items I'm most excited about! Here is a round-up of all my top accessory picks:

Lastly, we hit the clothing department. We milled around and I tried on a few items, but most of the things that were on my list were out in my size, which was expected. I mean, by the time we got to clothing, it was already after 8 pm and although I didn't have the highest hopes, it was helpful to see all the colors and touch all the fabrics of the things I wanted, no itchy knits for me. After making updates to my online shopping cart as I window shopped in store, I was ready to go home and place a huge online order for all the things that were out in store in my size or the color I wanted. I stocked up on lots of basic tee's - both long and short sleeve, a TON of cardigans, sweaters, tunics, and denim. I've rounded up all my must-haves by category below:

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale - Complete Round-Up

Full access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is only hours away, which means non-card holders will finally be able to shop the sale. I'm still waiting for my orders from last week to arrive, so I don't have any reviews to post yet, BUT I wanted to share all the things I have bought and some of the best sales on pieces sure to be staples in your fall wardrobe. It may seem crazy to be buying things for fall weather when its nearly a 100 degrees out, but the savings on these items are the best you will see all season, and if you are anything like me, you whole heartedly believe that a dollar saved is a dollar earned...so I plan on earning some money during this sale!

Back to School

This is only the second year where the end of August hasn't ushered in the beginning of school for me, but that doesn't mean I'm not taking advantage of all the wonderful sales and new lines of clothing out in preparation for all those who are. Moving into September not only signals a seasonal transition from summer to fall and from vacation to school, but also a change in my closet. We all know what I am getting at - the colors, the textures, the types of pieces in your wardrobe slowly change to prepare for shorter, cooler days. 

There's something in the air about students heading back to class, from the blank pages in their notebooks to the new bags over their shoulders, that seems to indicate its a season for change and fresh starts. Or at least that is how I shall justify my obsessive desire to reinvent my wardrobe as soon as September 1st hits (and maybe a little before!).

I always seem to fall in love with more new pieces during this time of year than any other, so I am always on the look out for a bargain. I have been playing the 'cart game' with many of the pieces above (you know the one where you load up your online shopping cart and pretend you can buy everything you want and then close your browser with your bank account in tact) just waiting for a good sale so I could gleefully log-in and finally check my cart out. And that is definitely what I did with this beauty, that plaid, and this dress (and maybe a few more...oops). Today I've rounded up some of my favorite steals and deals in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. My fall style tends to center around lots of neutrals, a few key saturated colors, and piles of accessories. This way, most of my fall pieces can be mixed and matched with one another; less pieces, more outfits, a win, win in my book.
