Moody Floral

If there is something this girl can get behind every season, its a good print. You all know I love plaid, but I am also pretty obsessed with floral too. A little pattern can add a lot of personality to an outfit, and one of my favorite ways to add a pop of print is in a scarf. So, when I stumbled across this scarf on Nordstrom's website I knew I had to have it. Since it was available at my local store, I ordered and did the in store pick-up. Sometimes you just can't wait for shipping, ya know?

SCARF (similar, this one sold out)| TIE-FRONT SWEATER | VEST (similar, mine is old) | LEGGINGS | BOOTS | PURSE (small version, mine is sold out)

I posted this sweater in light pink a few weeks ago (here), but I have to say the olive version is just as good! Its that super soft jersey fleece material and even though I dressed it up a little more in the other post, it can definitely be dressed down more casually. My favorite weekend outfits are ones that look great and put together, while secretly feeling like you are wearing pajamas, like this sweater paired with leggings here.

I'm loving the olive, black, and cognac combo, it just feels rich and classic. My vest is from a few seasons ago, but luckily they bring back a similar one every year and this year was no different. And these are my all time favorite leggings, I buy multiples at a time. They are super affordable and I can get a good amount of wear out of them for their price point, so I don't mind when I wear through them. I would suggest checking them out, especially if you are looking for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg (on sale now for $5!), but are still comfortable and pretty durable. I have like 6 pairs currently.

Lastly, I must apologize that my scarf sold out like crazy and so I am linking another one. If you can find this one in stores, it is definitely worth a buy! I love that the colors just kinda go with a lot of other muted tones and I'm a sucker for anything black, so that never hurts. The other one I'm linking is reversible with a plaid back (winner winner) and has such pretty colors too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Pattern Mixing & Apple Picking

One of the easiest things, in my opinion, to transition from fall into the holidays is anything in a red plaid. Plaid is one of the things I find to be quintessentially fall, and when it has a little (or a lot) of red in the pattern, it just seems extra festive too. I can already imagine pairing this shirt with a black skirt and heels with some sparkly accessories for the holidays!

PLAID SHIRT | SIMILAR STRIPE SHIRT (mine is old) | LEGGINGS | PURSE | BOOTS | EARRINGS | SUNNIES

When we went apple picking with my sister (how cute is she?!) a few weeks back, I paired my red plaid shirt over a striped tee for some loose layering. Remember I mentioned how warm it was here last month? Well, this was my way of sneaking some autumn style into a 75 degree plus day.

As the holiday season is inching towards us, I can't help but want to buy all the red plaid to style for work and play. I've already scooped up a few plaid dresses, shirts, skirts, and even some heels! This particular plaid shirt was scooped up during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this summer, and has been in and out of stock ever since. Currently it's IN STOCK so run and grab one!

I've also rounded up some more red plaid shirts currently in stock along with some of my recent non-shirt purchases below so you can shop them now, before they start to sell out (the holiday plaids always do!).

Hope you all have a great Wednesday!

Back to School

Back to School Fall Wardrobe Favorites

This is only the second year where the end of August hasn't ushered in the beginning of school for me, but that doesn't mean I'm not taking advantage of all the wonderful sales and new lines of clothing out in preparation for all those who are. Moving into September not only signals a seasonal transition from summer to fall and from vacation to school, but also a change in my closet. We all know what I am getting at - the colors, the textures, the types of pieces in your wardrobe slowly change to prepare for shorter, cooler days.

There's something in the air about students heading back to class, from the blank pages in their notebooks to the new bags over their shoulders, that seems to indicate its a season for change and fresh starts. Or at least that is how I shall justify my obsessive desire to reinvent my wardrobe as soon as September 1st hits (and maybe a little before!).

I always seem to fall in love with more new pieces during this time of year than any other, so I am always on the look out for a bargain. I have been playing the 'cart game' with many of the pieces above (you know the one where you load up your online shopping cart and pretend you can buy everything you want and then close your browser with your bank account in tact) just waiting for a good sale so I could gleefully log-in and finally check my cart out. And that is definitely what I did with this beauty, that plaid, and this dress (and maybe a few more...oops). So, while this sale lasts, be sure to take advantage of the amazing discounts on many steals and deals, as well as an additional 40% off all other styles.

Shop my favorites, which are on sale with code WEEKEND through the end of today (8/31), by clicking on the photos below:

Stripes, Colored Tights, & More Stripes

Happy Monday lovelies! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Today I am sharing a look inspired by my incredibly cute tutu mug from the Alice & Olivia collection at Starbucks. We are very match-y with our striped dresses. I added these green tights (I've also worn it with burgundy tights) to add a punch of color to an otherwise neutral outfit. This draped cardigan is one of my long time favorites (inspired to be worn by the #2014closetremixchallenge), while the tights and booties are more recent pieces. It's crazy how an "old" item can seem new again by pairing it with trendier pieces! I'm also carrying my school bag, making this a very true-to-life outfit I would be seen in everyday. What have you re-discovered in you closet lately?
